Guild Level 3 Award in Media Make-Up

The Guild Level 3 Award in Media Make-Up is a qualification that has been specifically designed to develop your practical skills and media make-up techniques. You will learn to use latex, liquid blood and other coloured cosmetics to create different character and casualty effects.You will also learn about applying small prosthetic pieces such as ear tips, chins and noses. Colour theory and presenting your ideas via a mood board are significant elements of this qualification.The purpose of this qualification is develop your skills in make-up which will provide you with the foundation for further learning or progression into specialist employment or self employment.

At London School of Hair and Beauty, we offer the Guild Level 3 Award in Media Make-Up course in a structure that saves you a lot of time compared to the Further Education College route and offer a flexible way for students to achieve a more advanced qualification.

Following practical training days, students are given written and practical assignments to be completed at home. Students then return to the school for a pre assessment appointmentbefore attending their assessments. To comply with the rigorous NVQ assessment procedure, it is essential that student provide models to work on during their assessment days.

TheGuild Level 3 Award in Media Make-Up contains the following units:

Media Make-Up

This unit is about special effects and media makeup. You will learn how to create casualty effects and character looks, using the application of small prosthetics. Consultation and design briefing, including the use of mood boards, are key elements of this unit.

Mode of Study

At London School of Hair and Beautys, we run this qualification in a unit by unit form. This allows you to work at your own pace and fit your studies around your current commitments. For your 1st unit, you will attend the practical day, complete the home study elements (practice diary, case studies and assessments) and then return to the school for your live assessments and paper tests. Once the unit is complete, you will go through the same process for the rest of the units until thequalificationiscomplete. You will get up to 2 years to complete thequalificationwith this route, however it can becompleted in as little as 6 months. Failure to complete the qualification within 2 years could result in additional assessments fees.
